About TCDeaf.com
Welcome to TCDeaf.com! This website is a electronic bulletin board for any individual or organization to post information, flyers, news, and other information relevant to the Twin Cities Deaf Community. PLEASE NOTE: TCDeaf.com is NOT affililated with Thompson Hall. Please do not send us inquiries about Thompson Hall.
TCDeaf.com was established on January 22, 2000 by Richard Taylor, as a personal project. When TCDeaf.com became too large a task for one person to handle alone, the Minnesota Association of Deaf Citizens approached Richard about taking over the responsibilities of TCDeaf.com, with Richard's continued involvement. A team of volunteers was then formed and advertising revenue was sought to cover TCDeaf.com's operating costs.
The TCDeaf.com team was formed in fall of 2001, and the site is currently being maintained by a team of volunteers:
Team Leader: Alicia Lane-Outlaw
Adrianna Smart
Richard Taylor
The goal of this free online service is to provide a central source of up-to-date information to increase overall awareness of the many resources available to the Twin Cities signing community. With a steadily growing audience, TCDeaf.com looks forward to fostering increased ties among organizations, Deaf adults, Deaf youth, and other members of the signing community.
TCDeaf.com is made possible by sponsorship of the Minnesota Association of Deaf Citizens (MADC), a nonprofit organization. Revenue from paid advertisements help defray operating costs.
If you are interested in placing advertisements on the web site, contact advertising@tcdeaf.com. TCDeaf.com is entirely volunteer-run, so please allow one week for a response. We appreciate your patience.
Make out checks to DEAF-MADC, write TCDeaf.com in the memo line, and mail to the treasurer:

We welcome your news, flyers, and other information of interest to the Twin Cities Deaf Community - your submissions make this site possible! Our site is maintained entirely by volunteers, so we ask that you follow the below guidelines to help keep things running smoothly for our volunteers:
-
LEAD TIME: Please send your submission to submissions@tcdeaf.com and allow one to two weeks lead time for our volunteers to process your submission.
-
CONTENT: Information as presented in the body of the email and/or attachment(s) will be posted as is, unless clearly indicated otherwise, with the exception of formatting. The TCDeaf.com staff reserves the right to re-format the content to better complement the look of TCDeaf.com. This content MUST include a contact person name and at least one method of contacting this person (email, phone, etc). Submissions not meeting these requirements will not be posted.
-
NO SAVE-THE-DATE SUBMISSIONS: Event announcements that contain incomplete information (or indicate that future details will be supplied) will not be posted. Only fully complete announcements or announcements that refer the visitor to the organization's own website for more detail will be posted. We strongly recommend that you have someone else proofread your submission before you send it to us; our volunteers cannot guarantee timely revisions after an article is posted.
-
FLYER FILE FORMATS: Adobe Acrobat (.pdf) and Microsoft Word version 95/97 or later (.doc) are preferred. Requests to consider other formats are accepted, but such requests should arrive in the TCDeaf.com mailbox at least a week before the deadline. If you send a PDF, please keep the file size under 200K. If your PDF exceeds 200K, we will compress the PDF further or use a different file format, which likely will result in poorer image quality.
-
FLYER ACCESSIBILITY REQUIREMENTS: We strive to keep TCDeaf.com accessible for our DeafBlind readers and for readers viewing our site with a pager. If you send us a flyer in an image-only format where the text cannot be selected or copied, you must also provide the text equivalent, in the email body or in another file attachment. Image-only flyers will NOT be posted until a text equivalent is provided.
-
COMMUNITY LISTINGS: This is an option for submissions that are not general news, event announcements, job postings, or paid advertisements. 50 word limit per listing, for individuals only (no businesses). No cost to submit a Community Listing. Each announcement will last two weeks, and listings may be re-submitted for another 2 weeks. Community listings do NOT appear in E-Flash or the calendar.
-
LIMITATIONS OF LIABILITY: This website is published as a free information service by volunteers. The events, services, or products listed on TCDeaf.com or its e-newsletter do not necessarily imply endorsement by TCDeaf.com or DEAF-MADC. The TCDeaf.com staff reserves the right to reject any submissions it deems discriminatory, derogatory (e.g., slanderous, insulting, offensive), or otherwise inappropriate for TCDeaf.com. Read the full Terms of Use.
-
When is the deadline for sending in announcements or flyers?
-
Monday for each week's edition.
-
What is the cost of posting information on TCDeaf.com?
-
If your submission is about a community event of significance to the signing community, there is no cost. News announcements are also posted at no cost if they do not advertise products or services. Information advertising products, services, and job openings have small fees. Please see the Advertisers section for more information.
-
How long will my article be displayed on TCDeaf.com?
-
When an event is submitted to TCDeaf.com, it goes through the following stages:
-
After the article is posted by our volunteers, a link to the article appears on the front page for the first two weeks after it is posted. After this point, news-only articles are no longer displayed. Events, however, continue to be displayed elsewhere, as described below.
-
A link to the event article is displayed in the calendar until the day after the event occurs.
